Joseph Lawson, one of the three men convicted in connection with the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, filed a notice of appeal with the Kentucky Supreme Court to overturn his verdict in the case Sept. 29, according to court records.
Lawson was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence in the case in July and was sentenced to 25 years in prison Sept. 17.
Additional documents show Lawson submitted the appeal "in forma pauperis," meaning without cost, due to his financial situation.
Rogers, a 35-year-old mother of five, disappeared from Bardstown around July 3, 2015. Her body has never been found and she is presumed dead.
Lawson's appeal comes after Lawson's father, Steven Lawson, filed a notice for appeal Sept. 2 for his own role in the Rogers case.
