ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — When a young girl knocked on David Williams’ door Sunday afternoon in northern St. Tammany Parish, he realized an odd smell outside earlier was something serious.
“I could see through there, and I could see the flames,” said Williams.
Across Sun Drive, Williams’ neighbor’s home was on fire. He immediately thought about the two men who lived there.
“There was no doubt in my mind that they were in there,” said Williams.
Minutes later, fire crews were battling the flames that had consumed the wooden home in Sun.
“When we arrived, the fire had progressed beyond any survivability,” said St. Tammany Fire District 9 Chief Scott Brewer
Chief Brewer says it took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
“We found the first body within probably 15 or 20 minutes
