Dr. Steven Shin , one of the most respected surgeons nationally who works at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has gained a cult following halfway across the country in Oklahoma.

OU football fans have been celebrating Shin's successful procedure after operating on Sooners quarterback John Mateer since last week. Oklahoma attorney general and 2026 gubernatorial candidate Genter Drummond even issued an official commendation Thursday, praising Shin.

On Monday, Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams joined the party. Shin operated on Williams' wrist this summer.
