INDIANAPOLIS — Cumberland Police officers say they know Knollridge Apartments and the attached neighborhood well, and not for the right reasons.

Since June, there have been six shootings either in the apartment complex or neighborhood to the north.

Two of the shootings happened since Friday morning. Capt. Mark Waggoner called them different from the other shootings, but tragic.

"These two incidents over this weekend; they're unfortunate, but these cases are a little bit different than what we've seen earlier this year," Waggoner said. "These are individuals that are being put in a place that where they feel like they have to defend themselves, and they have a right to do so. "
