Danbury Regional Hospice welcomed a $2 million state grant to expand their pediatric care services to open more access for children and families across the state.

Secured by Sen. Julie Kushner (D-Danbury), the hospice found that there is a steady increase of children from birth to 21 in the state with life-threatening conditions.

They also found that there is a lack of pediatric hospice service workers.

Regional Hospice said the funding will help expand its pediatric program over the next two years with an addition to their staff. They said the funding will also support educational initiatives for hospice providers statewide and enhance outreach efforts to ensure families have access to their services.
