Former Portage Mayor James Snyder will get to enjoy the holiday season with his family as a free man.
On Monday, U.S. District Judge Gretchen Lund granted a request by Snyder's new attorneys to set Jan. 14, 2026, as the date when the Republican will be sentenced for his felony conviction of corruptly obstructing the administration of federal revenue laws, instead of Oct. 16 . His sentencing originally was scheduled for Sept. 3.
According to court records, Snyder recently hired attorneys Josh Minkler, Jordan Oliver and Neal Brackett of Indianapolis' Barnes & Thornburg to represent him through sentencing and any subsequent litigation, replacing Chicago-based attorney Andréa Gambino.
