CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Cedar Rapids School Board says it needs to improve its internal and external communication - and it held a special work session on Monday aimed at just that.

The board president told TV9 the purpose of that meeting was to figure out ways to function better, more cohesively and more transparently so when difficult topics arise they’re fully informed.

One of their goals is to give the community a better understanding of what they’re doing.

These meetings typically happen twice every year, but this one was specific to improving communication among board members, other school district committees, and the public in general.

The CRCSD Board President says they’ve had some “contentious issues” that made this particular meeting timely.
