Now, thanks to a new team policy, penalties against the Aggies could bring Elko and his coaching staff one step closer to having their toes in the sand.
Any penalties committed by Aggie players moving forward will come with a monetary fine that Elko joked will go towards the “coaches’ Cabo fund.”
It’s a tool now available to coaches in the revenue sharing era of college athletics.
“I’ll let you guys in,” Elko said, with a smirk, after asking about recent penalty woes. “So, I’ve tried all kinds of things. Today, what we started was the Texas A&M football coaches’ Cabo fund. So, what’s going to happen now is, every time one of our players gets a penalty, they’re going to contribute to the coaches Cabo fund. We’ll see if that works.”
