COLUMBIA, Mo. (KY3) -What should’ve been a celebratory weekend for Mizzou turned violent when three people were shot and one was killed early Saturday morning.
After a deadly Homecoming weekend in Columbia, University of Missouri leadership is calling on the city and state to take action against violent crime to protect students. Three people were shot, and one young woman died early Saturday morning. A 23-year-old man from out of state was arrested for the shooting and faces assault and weapons charges, according to Columbia Police.
The woman, Aiyanna Williams, was an involved member of the Columbia community as a nursing student at Stephens College, a part-time worker at MU Health, and a graduate of Battle High School. A memorial was held in her honor Sunday night in Columbia.
