WILKES-BARRE — Improvements to the pond at Kirby Park that include new lighting, landscaping and the installation of a fountain have begun.
According to the office of Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown, contracts were awarded to Aquatic Resource Restoration Company, of York, in the amount of $438,800 and Joyce Electrical, of Eynon, in the amount of $279,400.
The project was designed by Simone Collins Inc., of Norristown.
Planting and seeding will be completed during October, followed by the installation of the lights and the fountains.
Site furnishings will be installed in early November, and the project will wrap up in late November, according to the press release.
The newly planted areas will be fenced off, and park visitors will be asked to refrain from entering those areas.
