APALACHICOLA, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida is looking for input on what oyster harvesting in the Apalachicola Bay should look like.

The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is hosting rule workshops over the next few weeks.

The FWC suspended the wild oyster harvests in the bay five years ago after the population collapsed. But that will soon change.

The agency has a preliminary framework on how to reopen commercial and recreational harvests in the new year. The specifics for licensing, bag limits and the season itself have yet to be finalized.

They are looking for public input at three upcoming workshops. The first one will be hosted on Tuesday in Apalachicola from 6 to 8 p.m. at the County Commission Meeting Room, 34 Forbes Street.
