COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Colbert County Sheriff's Office has officially partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

A temporary badge has finally given the Colbert County Sheriff's Office the green light to assist with ICE. To get the temporary credentials, select deputies had to go through federal training, and after several months, they could get to work.

Sheriff Eric Balentine tells News 19 they recently received a list of people from ICE.

“We are fully operational, as of last week, they sent us a list of priorities that we have to have interest in our area,” Balentine said.

The people listed as a priority have all been charged with felonies.
