LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Lafayette Consolidated Government broke ground today on the new Heymann Park Amphitheater, a $4.68 million project that will transform a former baseball field into a modern, 2.5-acre venue for community performances and events.

The amphitheater will accommodate up to 5,000 people and includes a vendor pavilion, restrooms and dedicated parking for performers and vendors. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of 2026.

“Music and culture are at the heart of Lafayette, and this project builds on that legacy,” said Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “The amphitheater will serve as a new gathering place for families, neighbors, and visitors, and marks the first step in reimagining Heymann Park.”
