SOUTHPORT, N.C. — A 64-year-old woman who moved to Southport from California last year to retire was identified as one of three people killed in a mass shooting at a waterfront bar in Southport, according to WWAY.
Joy Rogers and her husband, Lennie, had moved to the coastal town about a year ago from California to enjoy retirement, Lennie told ABC News. The couple was at the American Fish Company in Southport when the suspect opened fire.
The mass shooting, which police described as “highly premeditated,” left three people dead and five others injured. Authorities said the suspect, Nigel Edge, 40, of Oak Island, fired into the crowd from a boat along the waterfront. He was taken into custody Saturday night.
