EVARTS, Ky. (WYMT) - Some neighbors in the Evarts community of Harlan County are concerned about a bridge that was damaged in February’s flood, but has yet to be fixed.
The flood on Feb. 15 damaged a bridge that allowed access to the homes of those living on Bailey’s Creek Road.
The Harlan County Emergency Management Director, Stephen Lewis, said the county road department crews installed a temporary crossing the day after the damage happened, and claims that the crossing is being maintained.
Cindy Perkins, a Bailey’s Creek resident, is concerned about the safety of the crossing for her and her neighbors.
“You can see where it’s flattening out even since they came out twice to put gravel down, it’s just not lasting,” Perkins said. “Our biggest concern is that winter’s coming and that,
