ORONO -- An organization dedicated to helping students, faculty, and staff meet their everyday needs got a little boost from the town of Orono.
Earlier tonight, the Black Bear Mutual Aid Fund received a check for over $1,300 from the town of Orono.
The funds were raised during the recent Orono Festival Days with a pancake breakfast, a town council dunk tank and a fun run.
"They'll use it for their various purposes to help the people in the black bear- university community," says Orono town council chair, Dan Demeritt, "So, people can come to them for help. They also helped organize the event, and they helped us organize the event, but they raise money all throughout the year and help just by being a helping hand to the university community that needs some help."
