BELLEVUE, Ky. (WXIX) - A group of Kentucky lawmakers has issued a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson that asks to remove language from the Fiscal Year 2026 Ag-FDA Appropriations Bill that would redefine legal hemp.
Senator Mitch McConnell said he wants to close a “loophole” that has allowed the sale of hemp-derived THC products.
Since 2018, hemp has been legal, but critics say that legalizing it entirely allows some manufacturers to yield THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana, from hemp.
