IRMO, S.C. — Authorities have identified the woman killed in a weekend shooting on Forest Walk Court as 37-year-old Rachel Branham of Irmo.

The Richland County Coroner confirmed Branham’s identity on Monday.

Neighbors described her as kind, loving, and someone who always looked out for others.

“A real sweet girl, it just really cared about other people, a mind of her own, and just always inquiring about things. It’s really hard to believe,” said Valorie Denys, who lived next door.

Deputies said the call came in around 1:15 a.m. Sunday for shots fired in the neighborhood. When they arrived, they first found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to the hospital.
