GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — After tragedy struck Sunday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, another church just miles down the road held a vigil.

Hillside Church Pastor Justin Rose said the last thing he wants is for fear to win.

“One of the reasons that we wanted to do something was to show up and to push back that fear,” Rose said.

His thoughts were with the victims, but quickly shifted to the wider community — especially those who may feel far from faith.

“If anybody is on the outskirts and doesn’t really know about this or doesn’t really know what God is or know why they should come to church, this all can steer them far far away,” he said.

For some churchgoers, fear was already setting in.
