KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -A family is grieving the loss of their mother after a shooting at a Kanawha City gas station earlier this year.

Tiffany Adkins was 42 years old when she was shot and killed at a gas station along MacCorkle Avenue.

Four months later, her son Codie Adkins shared a statement with WSAZ.

“For my siblings and I it has been more than difficult adjusting to life without our mother. Our lives will never be the same without her here,” Adkins said on behalf of his family.

The teenager accused of killing Adkins is Jacob Fields, who’s 18.

Fields was indicted Monday by a Kanawha County grand jury on a first-degree murder charge, including presentment of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and wanton endangerment.
