LAPLACE, La. (WVUE) - A LaPlace man was arrested and booked with second-degree murder after deputies discovered a body in the trunk of his car during a traffic stop, according to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Tyler Bourgeois, 20, was arrested Saturday night, Sept. 27, shortly before 10 p.m. and is being held in the parish jail on a $250,000 bond set by Judge Vercell Fiffie.
Deputies said patrol officers responded around 9:35 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue in Reserve. Witnesses reported seeing an orange, four-door Dodge sedan leaving the area after the shots were fired. At the scene, deputies found clothing and a shell casing.
