GLADEWATER, Texas — Nobody expected the Gladewater Bears to be 4 - 1 midway through the season. But here they are— powered on the sideline by Coach Jermaine Lewis , and on the field by strength in the trenches.
"O line and D line is really good. You know, we have a couple of skilled kids that can make plays, but at the end of the day, our defensive line is really good and offensive line is really good as well. So that's where you can win games at," said Lewis.
Gladewater's most recent win came just this past Friday against Jefferson - a 12-win team in 2024. The Bears entered halftime down 27-11, but blanked the Bulldogs in the second half to pull off an improbable 28 -27 win. That's the kind of performance this team can use as a launching pad into district play.
