LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Kentucky nonprofit that helps animals in need is now facing trouble of its own.

KY Hopeful Paws Rescue said they're deep in debt and have made the tough call to stop taking in new animals.

For now, their focus is on adopting out the pets already in their care. The group blames rising vet costs and said this move is necessary to keep operating long term.
