SPRINGFIELD – Nine vacant parcels of land will be used to expand a park by roughly a half-acre, as well as create a second “pocket park” in two neighborhoods in the city.
Eight of the lots are adjacent and run along Morris and Main streets in the South End. Those will be transferred to the city’s Parks Department and be used to augment the small Angelina Florian Park that abuts the properties, said Laura Walsh, senior project manager for the city’s Parks Department.
