COLUMBIA — Aiyanna Williams, who died after a shooting Saturday in downtown Columbia, is being called a donor hero.

“Even in death, Aiyanna’s generosity and care for others endures. Her decision to be an organ donor reflects her commitment to the welfare of others and her calling to be a nurse,” according to a statement from Stephens College.

Williams' friend and co-worker Izzy Schwent, said her decision to be an organ donor did not come as a shock.

"In general she was just a selfless person," Schwent said. "When she was at the DMV making that decision, she was probably like 'Yep, yep,' and just signed the paper real quick because it was probably not a question for her."

Schwent said that selflessness extended to those she cared for.
