ST. PETERS — It was a soccer game that could've gone either way. But Parkway West, thanks in part to a fortuitous bounce in overtime, came out on top.
The Longhorns (11-1) got a goal in OT from top scorer Cameron Spangler to slip past host Fort Zumwalt East 2-1. The Lions are 8-2 this season.
"It was a great game from both teams,'' West coach Tom Herpel said. "Both teams were super-organized, super-physical, super-competitive and fast. And that's everything you hope for in a high school soccer game. Our guys love to play at a high-level tempo. and (Zumwalt East) was a great challenge tonight for us.
"As a coach, I know I was uncomfortable through most of the game."
