New Eastern Suburbs captain Shannon Threlfo believes last season's surprise grand finalists can make finals again this season despite losing inspirational skipper Riley Horrocks.
But it will take the talented young squad to play with a new level of consistency, complemented by key recruits Liam and Nic Neild from Kurri Weston and UK import spin-bowling all-rounder Toby Jones, who Threlfo played with in England.
"I think we had a fairytale run last year, but we probably overachieved in making the grand final," Threlfo said.
"Our goal was to make the four, and it wasn't until the last game until we actually won the last game, when all the other rounds got washed out, that we did it.
