With just days left before the Warm Home Discount scheme reopens, the Department for Work and Pensions is urging people to be on the lookout for scammers trying to take advantage. It also urged anyone receiving suspicious calls or messages to report the incident to Action Fraud UK.

The Department confirmed on X exactly how the payments are distributed and why the scammers may use that in their favour. Their post said: “If you are eligible for the Warm Home Discount, the £150 credit will be automatically applied to your electricity account

“If you get a call asking you to apply for the discount, it’s a scam. For more information about the Warm Home Discount, visit ( the Gov.uk website ).”
