A former police detective has lashed out at Premier Jacinta Allan for failing to address the state’s crime crisis, declaring the Victorian public are “living in fear”.
Retired Victoria Police detective Charlie Bezzina spoke to Melbourne’s 3AW on Tuesday, a day after four teenage boys drove a stolen car into Melbourne’s Bourke Street shopping mall, leading to a woman being hospitalised.
All four teenagers, who are aged 16 and 17, have been arrested and charged over the incident, with three of the four denied bail.
Premier Allan responded to the incident on Monday, declaring it “dangerous” and “disgraceful”.
However Mr Bezinna said he was “sick and tired” of such statements from the Victorian premier.
