After two years of double-figure rate increases, the rate cap announced by the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) for the coming financial year should bring some relief to Tamworth ratepayers' hip pockets.
Under the rate pegs released on Tuesday, September 30, by the independent pricing watchdog for the 2026-2027 financial year, Tamworth ratepayers can expect a maximum rate increase of 3.2 per cent.
Following the expiration of its two-year Special Rate Variation (SRV) allowance, Tamworth deputy mayor, Jeff Budd , said the rate increase will Tamworth Regional Council "fall back in line with the IPART recommendations in relation to the standard rate rises".
