The Wee Waa Panthers' future in Group 4 competition is up in the air.

News that the club is under review emerged near the end of the 2025 season - which was another tough one in the club's return from a six-year-long absence .

The reason for the review, club president Ben Oakes understands, is the spate of mercy-rule losses (where matches end automatically once the margin reaches 60 points) and forfeits suffered by their first and reserve grade sides, and the withdrawal of their under 18s midway through the competition.

"At this present moment, our club's under review by Group 4 to see if we're going to be fit to play on in the 2026 season," Oakes said.

"It feels very frustrating, very upsetting, because of everything that everyone's put into the club so far."
