Sidoarjo: Rescue teams in Indonesia are intensifying efforts to locate at least 38 people reported missing following the collapse of a four-story school building in Sidoarjo, East Java.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon during prayer time, trapping numerous students under the rubble. Authorities confirmed that at least one student has died, while 102 people have been rescued. Nearly 80 others were hospitalized with injuries.
Rescuers are using heavy machinery, including bulldozers, to clear debris, and providing oxygen and water to those trapped. The building’s collapse is believed to have been caused by an insufficient foundation, unable to support unauthorized construction on the top floor.
