New Delhi: Childhood obesity is an emerging global epidemic and a serious health condition characterised by excessive accumulation of body fat in early childhood. The increase in weight is often attributed to poor lifestyle and diet, such as excessive food consumption that exceeds their satisfaction levels, drinking high-calorie or sweetened beverages, lack of exercise or physical activity, and genetic factors as well. There has been a drastic rise in childhood obesity post-COVID pandemic. Being overweight/ obese often leads to various health conditions, such as diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.
