The City of Poughkeepsie will be launching the city's first five-year paving plan this fall.

As part of the city's revitalization campaign, City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Yvonne Flowers announced the road improvement plan on Sept. 19.

Incremental paving work began in late September, and will continue until 2029, according to the paving program.

The project's goals are to address the critical need of street renewal by preserving road infrastructure, while boosting public travel safety by minimizing vehicle damage, and reducing long-term costs.

Road improvements may be done via paving through milling pavement and reclaiming it for use or cape sealing, in addition to drainage and ADA alterations.
