Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a cool, somewhat cloudy Tuesday morning, but forecasters say the day will brighten into clear skies and comfortable conditions.

As of early morning, temperatures hovered around 67 degrees near Clinton Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark’s South Ward.

Commuters heading to work or walking to the bus stop can expect a mild start before clouds burn off and sunshine takes over.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach near 82 degrees, with a light north wind shifting northeast at 5 to 9 mph during the morning.

Tonight, skies will gradually clear, with lows dipping to around 54 degrees.
