Cyberpunk 2077 fans have welcomed a surprise new release that’s smashed its crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter.

Long before developers CD Projekt RED even announced the sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077, the cogs for the seedy criminal underworld were already in motion, with it being inspired by a tabletop RPG created by Mike Pondsmith, which in turn is inspired by Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.

However, since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 (and despite its well-publicised launch woes), the video game propelled the franchise to new heights of popularity, which not only spawned the Phantom Liberty expansion but also countless merchandise, an anime on Netflix, novels and much more.
