BRUNSWICK - - the Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the on ramp to U.S. Route 1 Southbound from Cooks Corner and the off ramp from Route 1 Southbound to Route 196 (Brunswick Topsham bypass) on September 29 from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The ramps will be closed with signs and cones, and traffic will be expected to use the next available exit.

Drivers heading towards Route 1 Southbound from Cooks Corner should remain on Route 24 (Bath Road) to Maine Street.

Drivers heading towards the Brunswick Topsham bypass (Route 196) over the Androscoggin River via Route 1 Southbound should use the next exit which leads to Maine Street/Frank J. Wood Bridge.

According to a release sent out by the Maine Department of Transportation this closure is part of an ongoing highway rehabilitation
