Karur : Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) general secretary N Anand, popularly known as Bussy Anand, has filed a petition before the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court, seeking anticipatory bail in the Karur stampede case. The stampede on September 27 killed 41 people. The bench will hear Anand’s plea during the Dusshera vacation sitting on Friday.
‘Politically motived’
The FIR, filed in the aftermath of the stampede deaths, names Anand along with Karur district secretary Mathiyalagan and state joint secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar. However, Anand insists he had no role in the tragedy and maintains that he is being targeted for “political reasons”.
