Imelda is now a hurricane and is both expected to bring dangerous rip currents, heavy rainfall and possible flooding along the North and South Carolina coasts through Tuesday.
While the center is expected to stay well offshore, its wide reach will still bring impacts.
Imelda is expected to make a sharp turn to the east-northeast Tuesday, and away from the U.S. by the middle of the week.
