OVERISEL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Deputies say a driver was killed Tuesday morning in a crash north of Hamilton.

It happened around 6:55 a.m. at 46th Street and 140th Avenue in Overisel Township.

According to the Allegan County Sheriff's Office, a sedan was heading south on 46th Street, approaching the intersection. The intersection has a stop sign for traffic on 46th, but deputies said the sedan did not stop. It was then hit by a westbound SUV.

The driver of the sedan, a male, died on scene, according to the sheriff's office. The office did not immediately release his name or age.

Deputies said the driver of the SUV, a female, suffered injuries and was treated at the hospital.

No one else was in either car.

Speed likely played a role in the crash, investigators said.
