Police on Monday accused a 61-year-old Berks County man of fatally shooting a woman and her husband and killing their 1-year-old son by throwing him into a muddy marsh because the woman would not leave her husband for him.

Jose Rodriguez, 61, of Leesport, was charged with three counts of murder, abuse of corpse and other related offenses in the deaths of Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, 31, Junior Cabrera-Colon, 32, and Jeydon Junior Peguero.

After Carbrera-Colon’s body was found about 6:30 a.m. Sept. 13 dumped in a wooded area near basketball courts along River Road in Reading, police say they determined he was fatally shot by Rodriguez during a fight in a neighborhood about a mile away.
