Garrett Crochet has been successful against the Yankees this season and will try to carry that momentum into Game 1 of the American League Wild Card.
New York didn’t beat Crochet in the regular season, and the Yankees know they face a tough task in the Red Sox ace on Tuesday night.
“The stuff is off the charts,” Yankees pitcher Max Fried — who will oppose Crochet in Game 1 — told reporters on Monday . “He posts, he led the American League in innings and led baseball in strikeouts. So you’ve got big stuff and a guy that wants to take the ball. He’s had a tremendous year. You know that he’s going to be coming out ready to go.”
Crochet made four postseason appearances out of the bullpen while with the Chicago White Sox in 2020 and 2021, but Tuesday will mark his first start.
