A 33-year-old man has been arrested for drug possession after police were called for a report of an armed man in a downtown St. Catharines park.
On Monday, Niagara Regional Police were called to Richard Pierpoint Park on Oakdale Avenue near Gale Crescent following reports of an armed man in possession of fentanyl.
Officers located the suspect man and determined he didn’t have a gun, police said. He was, however, carrying a large quantity of illegal drugs, police said.
Police seized 105.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, 247 suspected Dilaudid pills and $2,646 in cash.
The man, who has no fixed address, has been charged with possession of fentanyl and hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.
