HUSTISFORD, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Wisconsin are investigating after a village treasurer was arrested on allegations of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars in public funds.
In September, the Village of Hustisford contacted the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office to report suspected theft and embezzlement. A detailed audit of village finances revealed significant discrepancies, and officials provided documentation to investigators.
The investigation identified Kim Hopfinger, the village clerk and treasurer, as a suspect. Authorities said the audit and follow-up investigation determined that a substantial amount of money was stolen from the village. Investigators also found Hopfinger embezzled funds from the Hustisford Soccer Club while serving as its treasurer.
