KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (6 p.m.): Shortly after starting its regular meeting on Tuesday night, Knoxville City Council voted 5-4 to remove the Chilhowee Park land sale measure from its agenda.
Councilmembers Andrew Roberto, Seema Singh, Charles Thomas, Debbie Helsley and Amelia Parker voted in favor of removing the measure from the September 30 agenda, which ended discussion on the matter for now.
Helsley had previously said she wanted to introduce a measure to postpone the vote by eight weeks.
The park is located in District 6, which is represented by Councilwoman Gwen McKenzie. McKenzie voted against removing the measure from the agenda, saying she wanted to make sure people attending the meeting could voice their thoughts and concerns on the matter.
