Sri Lanka’s Udeshika Prabodhani entered her name in the history books on Tuesday, September 30, by becoming the oldest bowler to take a wicket in the Women’s ODI World Cup. Prabodhani, who is 40 years and 10 days old, bowled 10 overs for the Chamari Athapaththu-led side on Tuesday in Guwahati and picked up two wickets for 55 runs.

She opened her wicket account by dismissing world No. 1 ODI batter Smriti Mandhana. On the second ball of the fourth over of India’s innings, Mandhana was caught by Vishmi Gunaratne. She made 8 runs from 10 balls in the tournament’s opener.

Prabodhani’s second wicket came in the form of Amanjot Kaur. Amanjot, who made 57 runs from 56 balls for Women in Blue and added 103 runs for the seventh wicket with Deepti Sharma (53 runs), was caught by Vishmi Gunaratne ag
