Police have opened a homicide investigation following the death of a Montgomery resident in a shooting on Sunday morning.

Lt. Ernestina McGriff, a spokesperson for the Montgomery Police Department, said that on Sept. 28 , police responded to a call in reference to people shot in the 2400 block of East South Boulevard.

McGriff said that police on the scene made contact with one male and one female who suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds, and another female with non-life-threatening injuries. All three who were injured in the shooting were taken to a local hospital for treatment, McGriff said, but 21-year-old Christopher Washington later succumbed to his injuries and died in the hospital.
