BLACKSBURG, Va. — During a special online meeting on Tuesday, the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors approved a $229 million budget plan that charts a bold path for Hokie Athletics, positioning the university to compete with top programs across the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The investment, spread over four years and supported by both internal and external funding sources, provides bridge funding to achieve a sustainable financial position by fiscal year 2029.
“Virginia Tech is at a historic juncture in the history of Hokie Athletics,” said Virginia Tech President Tim Sands. “The tumblers at the institution, conference, and national levels are all aligned. Today’s action unlocks the door to future success.”
Sands emphasized that the national debut of capped student-athlete revenue sharing
