SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Auto repair shops are starting to see the effects of the Trump Administration’s tariffs when it comes to automobiles.

Repair shops say they’re seeing an increase in the price of quality parts, and an increase in knock-off and low-quality parts that may do more damage to your car.

According to the United States Customs and Border Protection , as of May 3, parts for vehicles like this one are subject to the reciprocal duties.

Prices for auto parts like engines, transmissions, powertrains, and electrical components are going up. Imports from Germany and Japan have a tariff rate of around 37.5 percent, while South Korea has a tariff rate of 27.5 percent.
