Vancouver Canucks winger Anthony Romani looks like he’s landed on an NCAA championship contender.

The Canucks’ 2024 NHL Draft sixth-round selection jumped from the OHL’s Barrie Colts to the Michigan State University Spartans over the summer, and the Spartans were ranked No. 3 in the USA Hockey pre-season poll released Monday. That matches their spot in the USCHO pre-season poll released last week.

Michigan State trails the Western Michigan University Broncos and the Boston University Terriers, respectively, in both polls. Western Michigan beat BU 6-2 in last year’s NCAA championship game.

The Terriers feature Canucks prospect Aiden Celebrini, a 20-year-old junior defenceman who was a sixth-round pick of the Canucks in 2023.
